Nature's Beauty

With the high temperature and humidity these last few days its been a good time to spend in doors trying to keep cool and get creative, so I have been doing lots, everything but cleaning up my messy workspace. Today I want to share a layout as its been quite sometime since I last did one, been playing with mixed media and tags etc instead :)

Using supplies from my last fabulous kit from Wild About Scrap store this layout was created with the wonderful October Afternoon Woodland Park Paper Huckleberry Hill, Gooseberry Falls & Olde Mill Bridge. Prima Cartier Aquinna flower blossoms. Little Yellow Bicycle Clear Cuts Shapes. TH Distress inks and Prima decorative flower spray from my stash. I used my Prima Ingvild Bolme Distressing Tool to distress the edges of the papers, love this tool it will distress any surface such as paper, cardstock, chipboard, plastic and even wood. Under the flower blossoms I placed delicate mini doily pieces.

Love this photo of my gorgeous girl! whether it be splashing in the pool or frolicking in the surf at the beach she is definitely our little mermaid, she just loves the water :)

Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful day! We are off to the beach :)

Home is...

Home definitely is where my heart is! Love my home, my family!

It's more than just bricks and mortar, its where I am raising my four beautiful children and spending time with the man I adore and have done for many many years!

It's been way too hot these last few days to do much so I have been playing inside with the aircon cranked up :)

Today I had a play with mists and got inky fingers lol. I am truly loving this Art Journal and creating, love the fact that it's so personal and I can just be free to create whatever I want. I used lots of different techniques from background misting, texture paste for my little house and distress inks.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you are keeping cool if you are anywhere in the southern hemisphere and for our counterparts in the northern hemisphere I hope it's not too cold ;) I often find it quite amusing how here I am sweltering and cooling off by the pool while friends are playing in the snow!

Have a great day!

Art Journal

A few weeks before Christmas I was very fortunate to take a class with the very talented Natalie from Artibility and we made an Altered Book using many wonderful techniques. I was intending giving the book away as a gift but I love it so much I couldn't part with it so I have decided to use it as an Art Journal, with the intentions of doing a double page each week using different techniques, and mixed media etc so below is my very first attempt. Watching many videos via youtube and visiting numerous blogs getting ideas and inspiration I had settled doing my first pages using the lovely Rach's techniques.

Art Journals are so much fun and what I LOVE most about it is that there are NO RULES! you can use and
do whatever you like :) and it is great fun getting messy!

My first Art Journal pages

created with gesso, layering book paper, TCW templates with texture paste, charcoal pencil, stamping, smudging etc

Journal Cover made during a class with Natalie, using panpastels, paint, gauge and chipboard.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you visit again and follow me in my journey learning to use mixed media and discovering new techniques.

Take care and stay safe during these holidays!

Tiny Top Hat

Happy New Year!

New year New dreams!

2012 was a bit of a rollercoaster year but all in all not a bad year so I am hoping 2013 will be just as good or even better, I am grateful I have a loving husband, awesome kids and great family and friends, many are not so lucky!  What are your dreams or resolutions? Mine is simple - to do the things I like to do and be with the ones I love most xx

Getting into the spirit of New Year I created this cute little Top Hat! rather cute I think :) You could add it to a hairclip or headband for something different or use it to adorn a table as a little gift for dinner guest. All you need is 1 large circle, 1 smaill circle and a strip of cardboard/bazzill. Some leftover lace or ribbon and a few little embellishments. I used what was lying around on my workspace (which I am about to clean!!) some tulle, blossom flower and a feather :)

Remember the good things in life, enjoy every moment and have a great year xxx
