Lesson learned...

Why not to leave an unfinished layout on your scrapping desk! I have a habit of not finishing layouts (don't we all!) and they can sit on my desk for any length of time, usually days or weeks! I had been working on this layout last week and as the kids are on school holidays still I only get short lengths of time to play with my scrapping. Doesn't help that my laptop is also sitting on said desk and Facebook calls to me lol! Didn't think much of it and when able I'd sneak in and attempt to finish it, well finally I did and noticed that the photo had smudge marks and what look like tiny water droplets, argh!! :( So lucky I had reprinted a heap of photos at Harvey Norman recently as the quality is so much better. Phew a lucky break! So in future I will try and finish the project I am working on or at least cover it until I can get back to it.
While picnicing at a park over the holidays I suggested we do a photo shoot! Response was a firm NO! I took my camera anyway and tried to bribe them, still wasn't happening. Anyway my eldest son took the camera and start mucking about taking photos of the other three playing on playground equipment and captured some very good shots! This is one he took of Alyssa, who I can't believe is almost four. Where has the time gone!

Trying to use up all my older papers!
Used Kaiser Lilac Avenue Collection. Cut out flowers from Wisteria and bling'd them.
Used Dusty Attic clock and collections arrow.

Handmade Daisy flowers cut from the Cricut.

Recycle reuse!
The green raffia was the wrapping from a present!

Thanks for dropping by and taking the time to look. I hope to be able to finish off more layouts over the next few days when the kids are back at school :)

Raise your hand if you can relate...

I spent yesterday cleaning and tiding my scrap space, every now and then I found myself drawn back to FB and my favourite internet haunts. Well I went blog hopping and before I knew it hours had past and the same bits of paper sat with the same photo untouch. Not going to get those photos into albums at this rate! I did see loads and loads of beautiful layouts and projects however, all giving me the eagerness to scrap. So this morning I set a goal - scrap that photo on my desk. Hmm well! Here we are into the evening and I have the same said photo sitting on the same paper but hey, I'm now following another 10 or some inspirational blogs! Found a new flower tutorial (which I hope to play with tomorrow) and now have Photoshop Elements so I am off to play. Might even have a go at playing with my blog design, I do like the look of tabs :) Have a nice night all!

First Ever Digi Page!

OMGosh!! I have been playing with digital scrapbooking images all morning and having the best time. Still have so very much to learn. Originally all I wanted was to do some photo editing. You know how they add those faded edges to photos or put fancy overlays in a corner. Recently at a crop night a friend scrapped a photo that had been digitally edited and it looked awesome. I wanted to do it too :) So for the last few days I have been reading up and researching and grabbing a few freebies along the way and this morning I thought I'd dabble a bit and after much frustrations from type I gave in and tried to do a digital layout instead, so this is what I have come up with. I am rather happy with my efforts :)

Bit hard to see the journaling (yes I did jornal :) so much easier when you can type it!) but it reads
'These are the gifts that my beautiful children gave to me on my birthday. Such
sweet precious sweethearts they are. The little Gem babies represent each of
them. The little dog cookie jar is special as its the very first pressie from
Trav with his own money lol!

I had such fun doing this and I think I will be dabbling some more. Not that it will replace my normal scrapbooking as I do love the lumpy bumpy and bling on a page. I still didn't work out how to edit the photos and put borders and overlays on, think its time to go back and have another play while the kids are occupied. TFL!

Had to share my Gem Babies - I LOVE them!

Unlock

Sometimes the child within struggles to shine through but on occassion makes it out! lol! This is Travis when he gets to a playground designed for younger kids! While on a picnic with his gf and us he ran around being a little crazy and this is one of the snaps I got. Wish my camera was behaving better and I could have got a sequence of shots. Anyways I started this LO at the 12 crop last Saturday and wasn't happy with how it was coming so put it aside, after changing the title and adding the fence and key I am happier with it but still feel it needs something, but time to move on, lots more to do...

Using Bazill & Kaiser 'Tis the season papers, Thickers, Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type,
DA Fence & Bird Cage, Collection Key, Gauze and Kaiser Pearls.

Close up of the Key & Fence.
Coloured with Gold Dabber and then utee'd
Gauze distressed with Rusty Hinge Ink.

Oh and I got to play with my I-Rock tool
Love this!! Can't wait for my heatset gems to arrive :)

Thanks for taking the time to drop on by.

Going postal

I've had these 6x6 layouts for SCKC ready for sometime and was just waiting on the address to send them off (I lost it and couldn't find the email from last year - don't you just hate that) so now they are ready to go postal. It's such a good cause and I know alot of work goes into making these little memory books for the kids so any little bit we can do goes along way in helping them.

First LO for 2011

I set myself goals this year - 1 or 2 LO's per week, easy I thought, no probs should be able to manage that, how hard could it be! Well its proving more difficult than I first thought. I am not getting alot of time to scrap while the kids are on holidays. Taxi'ng them here and there, taking them places, picnics, movies etc, usual things you need to do when you have kids home so they don't get bored.

Anyhow I did manage to get a bit of time on Saturday night to play, so I started a LO and almost had it complete except for the rubons and sticking the last few flowers on (I am sooooo loving these handmade flowers :) think I could spend days upon days making them. So relaxing!) So with the kids all settled watching a movie or on xboxes I managed to sneak a few moments and finished my first layout this morning. 11-1-11 what a great date to complete it on too LOL! Thanks for looking :)

Used Bazzill, Bo Bunny 'Flutter Butter', Prima Flutter Vines
DA Decorative Trim, Kaiser Pearls
& handmade flowers by me!

Close up of my flowers made from Bazzill & the paper shaper punches.

Prima Flutter Vine & small handmade flowers added.

Pretty as a rose...

I can not get enough of you tube at the moment and I just loooove the tutorials on making paper roses! So when the girls were in the pool I sat outside watching them and just punched out loads and loads of retro flowers. Then the other night I started making these and just kept making.....
and making
There are about six different types and I have made them in all sizes from big to small. Just using the two size retro flower paper shapers. They almost look like the Prima ones! My favourites are the embossed ones and the pink one with the pearl and the water distressed one, oh heck I love them all! They are soooo very easy to make and so much fun and don't really take a lot of time. Will need to actually scrap now so I can use them :)

Hope you like them as much as I do. Thanks for looking!

lots of lace...

Went to the Gosnells Railway Markets the other day, Thursday it was, took the girls along as I wanted to stock up on some lace :)

I haven't used the last stash but hey you can never have to much lace lol and you can do sooooo much with it. I made some sweet little flowers! I am loving making flowers at the moment, really need to start using them though!
aren't they just so sweet!

Flower power

Oh how I am having fun making flowers from bits of paper! I have spent the last few days watching you tube vidz on making grunge flowers from paper shapers, punches or sizzix dies and the rose tutorials are my favs. The look fantastic but I came across daisies and thought I would give them ago.

They were quite simple to do. Punch out two 2in scallop circles (as I didn't have this punch I used my cricut) then 6 large carl daisies (I broke my punch doing these - it hadn't been used in such a long time think it was in shock and just fell apart).

Spritz with water or glimmer mist then scrunch and smoosh away - this bit is fun!

Then finally just layer them and waa la! Done!
As you can see I pinched and scrunched on more than the other :)

Almost there…

Finally getting this signature to work even using live writer to post on blog ….

…must have been a good night with my IT guru..

SCKC Memory pages....

A few years ago I made some simple 6x6 pages for SCKC and as I was cleaning my scrapping space I came across some I had started last year but never got around to posting so again today I have been doing my bit for these kids and their great buddies. For more info check out SCKC Memory page drive or Southern Cross Kids Camp. I have completed approx 60 6x6 pages with another 30-40 partly done which I hope to finish either later tonight or sometime soon..

Think you can help!! Its really easy :) all you need to do is take 4-5 sheets of 12x12 patterened paper which you cut into quarters use 3 as 6x6 pages and 1 for matting or decorative bits, like a strip down the side etc. Take a further 5-6 sheets of different coordinating plain coloured cardstock and cut into 6x6 pages and use leftovers or like me use your huge stash of scrap cuts and bits and pieces, add a few embellishments, not to lumpy bumpy though. You can add a 14cmx9cm photo mat if you wish (I haven't). Once you get organised you can have a little production line going and you are able to whip up dozens of pages quite quick. From memory 20 of these pages are used for each little book and the buddies sit up late into the night placing photos and adding journalling to complete before giving to a child at the end of a camp. These memory pages go to a fantastic cause, so PLEASE help out if you can!

Having a play.....

Well as its been quite hot and humid, can't possible venture out into the heat so I have been playing with this blog adding widgets and gadgets and now I think I am happy with it so it will stay like this for the time being. I need to spend less time on tweaking this blogging and spend some time on actually scrapping.

So back to doing the paper shuffle or maybe making some more flowers. Oh how I like playing and making these tiny flowers, very therapetic!!

First things first - I need to clean my scrapping space!

Its a New Year

It's a New Year..... so.......

not one to make resolutions for the new year but more like 'goals'!!! So for 2011 my goals are to try and scrapbook more and foremost use ALL of my scrap-stash before purchasing any new stuff, going to be extremely hard especially with all the new releases due out shortly but I will give it a go. Wonder if I can do 2-3 layouts per week... hmm maybe an impossible task to set so early on but one I hope to be able to accomplish. Wish me luck!!
